Many people like the idea of scattering ashes in William Shakespeare’s home town, especially if their loved one enjoyed books or acting. There are some places you won’t be able to do this, including at the Shakespeare’s Birthplace Museum or the Royal Shakespeare Company’s theatre.
A couple of popular options are:
- River Avon: You can hire a river boat which can provide flower petals, as well as a biodegradable urn that can be dropped gently into the water.
- Tranquillity Garden: Stratford-upon-Avon Town Council maintain this peaceful place and can offer urn burial plots and memorial stones or plaques.
